Let's Ramble!

It feels like I have not posted in awhile, but it also feels like I have not worked out in awhile. At least that is my mindset, even if it is not true. On Sunday I finished up the Winter Off Road Series with the 10K trail run. I didn't smoke it like I wanted too, but it was still a good run for me. I finished in 53:09 with an 8:35 pace. Now this is encouraging because an 8:35 trail pace is strong for me. I think I could go sub 50 on the road!

The February AB/Core challenge is still going well. I am on track to hit my 7,000 crunches and then some. I can definitely feel a difference in my core strength, but I am not sure about it being seen. So I am looking to extend it through March before posting the before and after pictures. They say it take 4 weeks for you to notice a difference and 8 weeks for others to see a difference.

I was shocked to hear the news about BladeRunner. After reading several accounts of the story on the news, sounds like a guilty plea will be coming. I just do not believe he randomly shot through the bathroom door because he thought he heard a burglar.

I tweaked my hamstring on my last trail race. It was one of those "the ground is further down than I thought when I took that step" kind of things and I felt the twinge go right up my leg, so I haven taken a few days off.

The dunk contest at he All Star was better than I expected, I just wish the NBA ALL STAR Dunk contest had people in it I actually had heard of before.

I watched the men's Crossfit championships this weekend, and it totally made me want to STAY AWAY FROM CROSSFIT!!!!

Ever since I signed up for my 1st iron distance race, I have been in this funk about training! Is this normal??

TN weather is strange. warm one day, freezing cold the next then windy after that followed by rain, then warmer again! No wonder everyone is sick around here.

I have figured out Instagram I think, now trying to figure out Tumblr.

I have decided against going to the Master's class, it's not for me. I do not want to spend my time on other strokes since I am only swimming twice a week.

"I'm gonna pop some tags" will not leave my head!

  1. I'm gonna pop some tags, I got 20 dollars in my pocket...LOL. Yeah if the masters swim is making you do stuff other then what you really need I wouldn't want to go either.

    1. They always make the argument that this strokes helps your freestyle, but with only 2 swims a week, I want to just work on my freestyle!

  2. Did they show the crossfit triathlon? With their cute little fins they got to swim with? I laughed when I saw that with an eye roll.

When does IM training start for you? Yes, it gets less exciting fast. It is more of a overwhelming or daunting feeling of shorts. I am in week 3, and it is nothing but a roller coaster, some really great workouts and some "oh crap, how am I ever going to get ready for this if my training is going like this" It is literally day to day (and 2x a day), if you string together 3 great workouts in a row, your having a good week

    1. I only saw a snippet of the tri they did and I thought I saw them wearing fins, but then I thought, no way...

I am not starting my IM focused training till after my Olympic race in May, so I am using this to work on building speed and a solid base and then late May, it's go time!

  3. My master class only focuses on freestyle. It is very triathlon specific. Perhaps you need to find another?

    1. Last year I did my own "class" by following very specific drills, and I think I will do that again!

  4. Hello Random! That is a wicked fast trail 10K to me. Definitely would knock out an awesome road version. I just keep focusing on finishing - someday I'll worry about speed. TN is having similar winter to MO (though maybe a twinge warmer). I've been saying Mother Nature is a crack whore. Finally caved to Twitter, but still haven't tried Instagram. How in the world does everyone keep up with all of this stuff? ugh. I'm still happy to just be getting back to the pool semi-regularly so I have nothing to add other than go with your gut on the class. Sounds like you have a plan in mind that works fine.

    1. Yes, the weather is fickle and I am ready for some sunshine! I thought the groundhog said an early Spring!

  5. That is a great time on the trail! It's tough to really push yourself, at least for me because I'm always afraid of tripping on a root or wrenching my ankle.

Instagram is a great place. Are you following National Geographic? They're my favorite.

I'm one state north of you and the weather is the same here.

    1. Sad to say it took me a minute to brush up on my geography and determine which state that is! LOL
