Rollercoaster...Up Down Up Down

So January is over, for all intensive purposes (my wife loves when I say that) and I am still plugging along with my workouts like a elephant going through a mudhole. I am not sure what my deal is but I can't seem to stay motivated. I have the "want to" in my mind, but physically I am sucking.

I want to know this answer...

As I wrote earlier, me and my bride are both signed up for  the Memphis Runner's Track Club Winter Cross Country Series. So far we have completed the 3K and the 5k trail runs. The 3K was a very cold day and was fun. It really felt good to get outside and run instead of being on the dreadmill. It was also the first time my wife had done a trail run, so that was cool. Two weeks after the 3K, we did the 5K. It was the muddiest, sloppiest run I have done in awhile. It was also the slowest 5K EVA! but we had fun.

The next days though, no running, no biking, no swimming, just eat, eat and eat!

I swear I am the heaviest I have been in years and I do not like it, but I am not doing much about it except writing it on my blog (much to often too) I do not know why I can't get focused. I know my running sucks cause my knees hurt when I run (because I am heavier than I have ever been). I know I should stop drinking Dr. Peppers (like the one I am drinking now), I know I need to get a plan and stick to it instead of changing it every time it gets tough. I do what I don't want to do (Biblical reference, know it?), and that is why I am frustrated.

I do not feel like myself.

I know what to do and what not to do, but I can't seem to get a grasp on either one. I feel like I am on a rollercoaster and this is new for me, and I don't like it.

One reason I started this blog was to keep me motivated and accountable. Sometimes it is just a place to vent and sometimes it is a place to call myself out. A lot of times when I am writing a post, it gets me fired up (you'd think I would write more huh?), so my posts will be all over the map, so for the one or two of you reading, thanks, I appreciate it. I know I will someday get out of my pity party, but for now, you get what I am thinking about!

Thanks, Happy January!

P.S. By my nest post, I hope to have enough runs in to do a review on my Hokas, or that's my goal!

FitSnap and Gravity Training

What up Peeps! This blog post is dedicated to two things I am currently digging on. The FitSnap app and my new gravity training system. So let's jump right into these two cool gadgets.

FitSnap:

This is a great app that solves the age old question "how do I post my workout to FB, Instagram or Twitter and still include a cool selfie?" Cause we all know that is what social media is all about, letting the world know how good we have it. In the "old" days, like in the 90's, we had this:

FitSnap let's you do all this in one easy app. It is a great way to document the all important running that we do, and you can also do it with like 50 other activities! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, then you have seen my FitSnaps. And if you haven't, then go follow me!!!! I like the app and think it is cool. It's free in the App Store and I recommend it.

Gravity Training:

This is basically designed like a TRX system. I have some issues with my wrists which make it tough for me to go lift weights. With the design of the handles, I can use my own body weight to lift. Now I know I will not get huge using this, but for what I want it will be perfect. It is designed to be used on any door frame and is portable. I can position my body at different angles which will increase the "weight" of the exercise. When I was working out with my trainer in early 2014, we used a similar device and I really like it because it did not bother my wrist. I am also going to use it to focus mostly on upper body exercises and it is something I can knock out at home. Time seems to be harder to come by each day, so this is a good fit for me. I will let you know how it goes, but please do not ask for pictures :0 (cause I do not want any certain Redman opponent to get all nervous and because I am vain like that and will probably post them without being asked) I think there is a term for those shots called "belfies", like in a combination of selfie and body shot??

Anyways, those are my two cool finds for the fall of 2014. Let me know if you use them or yout thoughts on gravity training!

Let's Ramble!

It feels like I have not posted in awhile, but it also feels like I have not worked out in awhile. At least that is my mindset, even if it is not true. On Sunday I finished up the Winter Off Road Series with the 10K trail run. I didn't smoke it like I wanted too, but it was still a good run for me. I finished in 53:09 with an 8:35 pace. Now this is encouraging because an 8:35 trail pace is strong for me. I think I could go sub 50 on the road!

The February AB/Core challenge is still going well. I am on track to hit my 7,000 crunches and then some. I can definitely feel a difference in my core strength, but I am not sure about it being seen. So I am looking to extend it through March before posting the before and after pictures. They say it take 4 weeks for you to notice a difference and 8 weeks for others to see a difference.

I was shocked to hear the news about BladeRunner. After reading several accounts of the story on the news, sounds like a guilty plea will be coming. I just do not believe he randomly shot through the bathroom door because he thought he heard a burglar.

I tweaked my hamstring on my last trail race. It was one of those "the ground is further down than I thought when I took that step" kind of things and I felt the twinge go right up my leg, so I haven taken a few days off.

The dunk contest at he All Star was better than I expected, I just wish the NBA ALL STAR Dunk contest had people in it I actually had heard of before.

I watched the men's Crossfit championships this weekend, and it totally made me want to STAY AWAY FROM CROSSFIT!!!!

Ever since I signed up for my 1st iron distance race, I have been in this funk about training! Is this normal??

TN weather is strange. warm one day, freezing cold the next then windy after that followed by rain, then warmer again! No wonder everyone is sick around here.

I have figured out Instagram I think, now trying to figure out Tumblr.

I have decided against going to the Master's class, it's not for me. I do not want to spend my time on other strokes since I am only swimming twice a week.

"I'm gonna pop some tags" will not leave my head!
