It started off so well...

I had a great weekend. Well, let me rephrase, I had a great Saturday. I got the garage all cleaned, I did a great 10 mile run and then went to see Shutter Island with my bride (Great movie btw). So Sunday, started off decent too. We had a great service at church, a great meal at Abuela's and then we came home.

We came home to water dripping from the ceiling. I grabbed some towels and threw them on the floor and ran upstairs to find no water running, no toilets leaking no shower or tub leaking either!. So I went to the attic, where the hot water tank is located (for whatever reason). BINGO, problem found. Our hot water tank was leaking water. Great way to ruin a weekend!

Long story short, I spent the day mopping up water, draining the tank, and getting estimates on a new system. I had to go outside and turn off all the water to the entire house because the cutoff valve on the tank was not working, so we went without water for awhile. So the afternoon of napping and watching NASCAR did not happen at all! We finally got Lowe's to come out and give an estimate, and hoped it would replaced by Monday noon.

So fast forward to Monday. I had to take my car into the shop that morning to get a front end tie rod (it steers the car) fixed, so I shelled out money for that. The hot water tank estimate was over $600, so I shelled out that money as well. Still I thought, by the time I get home from work, it will be fixed. The guys did not arrive to fix it until 6:15 PM. Now, I only tell you that because at around 5:30 PM, Jesse, our 1 year old, starts throwing up. So we have a child throwing up and no water in the house. Luckily, we had filled all the pitchers with water in the house and we could scoop it when we needed it, but man you talk about bad timing. It was not good.

I forgot to add that the during this time my in-laws were also staying with us. They were helpful and everything, but we had a lot going on with a house full of people.

Thankfully, Tuesday has gone so much better than the last couple of days. It just gets me that now that we have our tax refund back, everything goes wrong. I had plans for that money which did not include a water heater tank and front tie end rod. I guess I should just be thankful that we had the money to pay for everything and shut up huh?

  1. Damn. That was a crazy weekend. Luckily you were in town and all. Imagine coming back from a race where you had stayed near the venue and come home to that?
