Today I woke up early and headed to the pool. My plan called for a 28 minute swim. As I got to the pool, this one dude was already in the water, so I hopped in the lane next to him, got ready and waited for the clock to start a new minute so I could time my swim. As I started swimming, the guy next to me started swimming. I was going at a good pace, but could tell his stroke count was higher than mine and he did the kick azz flip turns and powered by me. I wanted to race him so bad, but I digressed, and continued to swim my pace that I wanted to swim. The guy was swimming hard and looked like he was about to lap me, which would have been hard for me to take.
Anyways long story short, the guy only did about 7 laps before he was standing at the wall gasping for air, while I continued on for my 30 non stop laps. He continued to pace me for awhile after his break, and then eventually, I was leaving him and almost lapping him.
So I guess I am prouder of being able to go the distance rather than to be able to sprint a short distance. Plus I was able to finish 1500 yds in 29 minutes, which is good for me!

I told this same story on a BT forum, and you'd be surprised how many people lashed out at me for talking about the other guy swimming. So I guess I am the only person that thinks the way I do while training???
