I was suppose to run in the St Jude's 5K this weekend. I was shooting for 22 minutes or better, but I did not submit my entry fee in time and the race filled up. I have never seen a race turn people away before, I have seen them run out of t shirts, but never turn people away. There will be over 14,000 runners running this weekend, all to raise money for St. Jude's Hospital, but due to my laziness, I am missing out!
I have started my training for the Memphis in May Triathlon this week. It is a 20 week program which has me biking, swimming and running twice a week now. It should increase my monthly totals that I have been doing. At one point of the schedule it has me swimming for 1 hour 10 minutes, biking over 2 1/2 hours and running 1 hour 20 minutes. And I am excited about that! I really am. I have scheduled a little triathlon in March before MIM, but I am looking forward to getting back into it.
I have very high expectations for this season. I do not think I will win any races per se, but I do expect to crush my times from last year. That is really my main goal is to better myself from last year. I feel like I am more committed, and have a better idea of what I am doing, so I can't wait to get going. It is hard to explain really, so I doubt I even try.
This week I started out with this workout:
Monday: 48 minutes biking, 24 minutes swimming
Tuesday: Strength (consisting of 400 pushups , ahh yeahhhhh)
Wednesday: 40 minutes swim
Thursday: 26 minutes running (treadmill maybe, wind is too cold)
Friday: Strength (another 400 pushups)
Saturday: 1 hour 20 minutes biking (use my trainer while watching football)
Sunday: 4o minute run
I hate running on the treadmill, but anything under 30 degrees is my cut-off point. That is just to cold to be out there running IMO.
