I'm Rambling again...

  • Branson is just around the corner it seems. Time to start amping things up, but it is hard to do in this heat.

  • I love the new ride. My bike is awesome. All this time I thought it was a she, but really, he is a he. I am kicking around a few names for him, and I am leaning to naming him HBK, for the Heartbreak Kid.

  • 4th of July celebrations seem to all happen on the 2nd or 3rd of July nowadays.

  • Finding Bigfoot and Whale Wars are my can't miss shows.

  • On my iPod, I put 4 cheesy tunes on my iPod the other day. (So cheesy, that I will not mention them) Whenever these songs come on, I have to amp up my pace for these songs (I stay on shuffle mode) and they usually come on at the worst time.

  • My road race series starts Sunday. I am using this series to help me prepare for the run at Branson and also to help me train for the Memphis marathon in December.

  • I am now addicted to Words with Friends, but do not ask me to play because I use the internet to help me.

  • I have also been jonseing for chocolate milk lately.

  • True Blood has gotten really weird this season.

  • I bought a power balance band a few weeks ago at a flea market and I have not fallen over once since.

  • I have found out that lately, a tennis ball is my best friend.

Well, that's about it for the ramblings. I have been hitting the training harder because I feel behind after not having a bike for over a month. I have been concentrating more on the bike and run portion of my training. I have a 5k this Sunday and then next weekend I have a sprint triathlon, so July will be fun. I will take these races seriously, but my main focus is Branson, and all these races are to help me with Branson. I will be ready, and thankfully I know my wife is supporting me bigtime, I know she wants me to finish Branson this time as much as I do. She is signed up to do a triathlon geared for beginners this year around Labor Day, so it will be great to help her train and get ready, so that will be very exciting to support her.

Yeah I Ramble...

I have been off for a little over a month now. No running, swimming or biking to really speak of. I had started training for 2010 back in January and figured it was time for a break. My blogging has also slowed a bit, but I promise it will get better. So, as I sit here watching the Packers vs. Vikings game, I figure it is time for a ramblings post.

  1. I definitely think Favre should have retired.
  2. I have decided I am going to have a couple of guest posters on Daily Trainings. I know some of my training partners have some interesting perspectives .
  3. It has been a rough week in a way. Last weekend I was out with a stomach flu and Thursday I had 2 teeth surgically removed.
  4. Sunday Night Football just played Round and Round by RATT as they went out to commercial! RATT was my favorite 80's hair band!
  5. I hate when player do that jump up, spin around and bump backs when they do something good.
  6. I played in a flag football game yesterday at my son's homecoming (coaches game, but they needed extra players) and it has been a long time since I have had to make a cut or sprint and I realized that TODAY!
  7. November 1, 2010, my wife and I are starting P90X together (so I am eating all the junk food this week)
  8. It is raining here in Memphis, first rain in almost 60+ days!
  9. This season of Dexter is weird, I wonder where they are taking us this season?
  10. My favorite line from the Mayhem commercials (ALLSTATE) "Sorry Robert, but $5 doesn't buy my undivided attention!"
  11. I can admit, I am finally at the point that I can say I miss running, biking and swimming.

Friday Night Thoughts...

  • First week of my 20 week HIM plan is in the books. I am more tired from getting up at 5AM than I am from the workouts.
  • I did not win the wetsuit, but had fun making the video (not really, just trying to have a good attitude)
  • Why do they do price checks at the dollar store?
  • My black toenail is gone, not sure what happened, just looked one day and it was gone.
  • I am rooting for the Jazz to beat the Fakers (Lakers). Not because I am a Jazz fan, but more of a Laker hater.
  • 2 more weeks till vacation
  • For some reason, I am all about drinking Pepsi right now, it's like the best thing I have ever tasted for some reason.
  • Please vote Russell off the stupid tribe.
  • Did I mention that I did not win the wetsuit? But it's ok...not really..yeah, it's cool.
  • Watching The Soup, and I agree, what's up with Tyra and Wendy Williams??
  • I am amped that Friday Night Lights is back on, but bummed I have already seen this season on Direct TV.
  • Get well soon Brett Michaels! Still a Poison fan, and you can admit it too!

P.S. Happy Mothers Day to all of the Mothers out there! Thank you for all you do!

P.P.S. How corny was the video post? Thinking about doing this once in awhile. My typing takes me forever.

P.P.P.S. Please go to the DAILY TRAININGS page on FaceBook and post a race picture.

Tuesday Ramblings...

Here are my random thoughts on a Tuesday night...

  • I got 100 pushups last night, well 101. Hurts like a son of a gun right now, but hurts sooo good! Respect the badge! :) Next up, 125!
  • I hate when shows cast people as athletes when they have no athletic bones in their bodies (Ok, I am watching GLEE)
  • I am also sad to say that I know what a "sliding door" move is on a dance floor (OK, I also watch DWTS and if you know what that stands for, then you watch it to, so shadduppp!)
  • My son (Jared) turns 9 tomorrow!
  • I want to ride tonight, but I don't wanna ride tonight. Hmmmmm
  • I have six episodes of Flash Forward on DVR I need to watch.
  • My black toenail is not going away
  • Why are "running shorts" so freaking short?
  • Right now I am thinking of eating a burrito.
  • I made a CD last night that rocks, it rocks! Hair bands only.

What a week I have had. 2 toilets fixed, 1 front end tie rod replaced, 1 water heater replaced and a garbage disposal that went on the fritz. That gave me a busy week, but wait, there's more. Also we had a 1 year old get the stomach flu who then in turned passed it to my wife and oldest son. Good times!

Luckily I have not gotten it, I already had this bug so I hope I am immune to it. So it was one heck of a week here.

I am tired of the Olympics already.

I am looking to buy some new running shoes, but since we still new to get the 3 boys their passports this week, it may have to wait.

Forecast calls for it to be sunny and a high of 52 this weekend. Please let that be true.

I have been hitting a new strength workout lately. "The 21" It starts off with 20 push ups and 1 crunch, then 19 push ups and 2 crunches, 18 and 3, 17 and 4 etc... So far it is a tough workout, when all is said and done you end up doing something like 210 push ups and sit ups. This usually takes me about 15 minutes.

I am really feeling optimistic about my training this month. I had good totals on the bike and running (more of that in a later post, still have a swim and a run to get in before totals are final)

Earlier this week, I emailed the RD of the 1/2 Marathon I am doing in March to ask him if it was iPod legal. He replied back that is was iPod legal but was my responsibility to watch out for other runners. I like running with my iPod, but I have NEVER raced with it, so I am torn on whether or not I should use it. On one hand, I always think that people using their iPods are racing just for the heck of it. (I know, totally an elitist point of view form me). I also think that it would really helped me on the miles. Not sure what I will do. What would you guys do?
