Challenge Accepted!

I love a good challenge! Sometimes I even enjoy a bad challenge, and although I am not sure which category this challenge falls into, I do know that it has been issued and accepted. So let me explain.

Some of the readers of Daily Trainings most likely read or have read Brad's Ironman Journey blog. If not, you should check it out sometime and then comeback to Daily Trainings for some real meat.

Brad is a fellow triathlete I met through Beginnertriathlete.com. I have never physically met him, but I am pretty sure he exists in real life. Brad completed his first Ironman this Spring down in IM Texas. As all of you know that read this blog, I also completed my first Ironman at Redman in Sept of 2013, and of course Brad and I compared times. Now, Brad (a native Texan) contends that my 140.6 mile race was easier than his 140.6 mile race because his was IM branded and in Texas, and you know how Texans can be right? Anytime I make a comment about my Ironman, he quickly reminds me that is "wasn't a real IM".

Personally, I feel 140.6 equals 140.6, I just paid less for the experience. So after many, many , many comments, I decided that we should have it out. We should race head to head, mano y mano.

So here was my challenge. I challenged Brad to a race at Redman 140.6 in 2015. (2015 and because we're older and need some time to recover from 2013, and it just works out better for the both of us, plus he needs more time to train). This should put an end to all that Texas babble about race times. I issued a public challenge in a forum on BT.com and Brad has accepted (I won't be surprised if he chickens out though)

This could be the thing that gets me motivated again, motivated to be my best, motivated to crush someone and motivated to go ahead and eat all the junk food in my house (casue why throw it out) and then motivated to start working on a plan begining in March 2015. I think I should be rested by then!!!!

  4. This is cool James!

You should really come to Texas and race here instead of OKC again. The Mdot experience alone is worth it.

    1. OKC is about a mid point for both of us is the main thing. I have no doubt the Mdot experience is great and worth the money, just no sure I awnt to part with all that money right now!

  6. Why don't you guys use your powers for good? Just kidding. I think a healthy rivalry is totally normal for grown men who aren't professional athletes, right?
