Someone Stole My Bike! For Real!

5 days until my first triathlon of the season and I am bikeless. Someone came into my garage, lifted my bike off the rack on the wall and walked away with my bike and bike shoes which were still clipped in. They left the three other bikes belonging to my wife and kids. They left all the lawn equipment and power tools in the garage, they only took my bike. Somone knew what they were getting.

5 days

I went out to get my bike because I thought I am going to ride on my trainer for 30-45 minutes tonight for a last bike workout before my race, so I walk out to the garage and it is not there. I know it was there this morning because after the Branson collapse, I always squeeze the tires on my bike to ensure they are still inflated. Imagine the sinking feeling I got when I could not find my bike.

Police report filed, and insurance contacted but I think I am S.O.L. due to my deductible. I am not sure what I am going to do about Sunday, but I promise you this, if I ever find out who went into my garage and took my bike, I had better hope I have at least one person that will pay my bail.

  1. That sucks!

    I got your bail covered.

As for you race, have you looked into renting a bike for the weekend? I know that around here there are some shops that will do day rentals.

    Good luck!

  2. Wow, that sucks!!

I agree with Kevin, see if anyone has a rental or maybe consider taking the wifes bike and jack the seat up.

  3. that really sucks!!! my only suggestion is post this to slowtwitch and people will totally rise to the occasion. I have seen threads where people loaned out their tri bikes to complete strangers in a similar situation!

  5. Sorry about your bike :( Hope something comes through and you find one to use - and find the guy that stole yours!

  6. Shit - just read this James. This is awful. Have you heard anything about that 2010 Shiv you had hanging in the garage??? (-:

In all seriousness, I got your bail covered,

AND keep the new bike indoors - at one point I had 4 bikes in my living room - down to only 2 now1
