Pool is Open!

Well, the open is open again! Monday was so nice to get back in the water. I got up at 6 to go swim and I really felt strong. Seems like a week off from anything knocks you back three or four steps but I really felt good. I did a 2000 yard workout, so I really was pushing it. I followed that up with a 5.4 mile run that night, which I am happy to say I kept an 8.38/mile!

Today I did a 1500 yard workout, which felt good but I was a little tired. Still it felt so dang good gliding through the water again. I remember when I first started swimming back in Sept. of 2007. It was rough. Everyone there thought they should give me advice on how to stroke, how to breath, how to turn, or how to hold my head. It got old really fast.

But now I have confidence in the water and it has become my best leg in the triathlons I do. I love the bumping, pulling, and hitting that goes on in the first part of the race, then it gets strung out and you can get into your pace.

Anyways, this whole post is about how I enjoy swimming in the mornings now. I really think I owe it all to my wife. She is a swimmer, and a good one. She blows me away in the water, but I think I a might be catching her since she has been occupied with the kids this summer, but I am sure it would not take her long to get back in her form. I am sure after the baby is born, we will both be back in the water on a regular basis.
