My Ironman Tattoo.

I think I read somewhere in the triathlon rule book that once you completed a 140.6 race, that you had to go get the Ironman tattoo. Now I am a rule follower (most of the time), and keeping to the lore of Ironman, I went and got my tattoo last Friday.

Now I did not go for the normal M Dot red tattoo. I wasn't feeling it, and I did not want the M Dot since I did not do a M Dot race. (To me, after you do a 140.6 distance race, you are an Ironman, M Dot or not). So I went a different route.

Before I show you the picture, I will tell you that I have the word "Ironman 2013 Gal 6:14" in a font that matches my initials I have on my bicep. For some reason, I am drawn more to words than I am pictures on my body, and I do not know why.

So I head to my tattoo shop and explain I want the Ironman tattoo. The guy automatically goggles the Avenger character. Shaking my head I say NO!!  Then  I explain to him what an Ironman is and what the race consist of. I then have to listen to him state that he could do the swim, because he likes to swim, but everything else would be hard. Whatever yo!

So we get the design, the size, the font and everything just right and then he puts on the stencil and Jford is happy. I look him in the eye and I say, "Let's do this"

I guess now would be a good time to warn everyone who reads this that a tattoo on the ribs hurts really, really, really bad! Yeah, I was shocked also. It hurt worse than my other two tatts combined, but hey, I'm an Ironman right? I can handle it right?

Well, all I can say is that he could not get done fast enough. every time the needle dug into my flesh I tensed up, it felt like he was tattooing my lungs! Luckily, since it was only one color, it did not take as long as it felt like it did.

So without further adieu, here is a picture of my Ironman tattoo!

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Galatians 6:14

My New Tattoo!

I think that when you aren't training for whatever reason, either sickness like in my case, or tapering, I think you come up with some crazy ways to pass the time. One thing I did of course was sleep. It was so nice to go to bed around 10 and sleep in till 7 AM every morning! One other thing I did was finally go and get the tattoo I have been wanting to get for awhile, so if you follow me on FaceBook or Instagram, you already have seen it, but if not, here is a picture!

Married Feb 1, 1997

A RING TATTOO!

Here is my thinking. I am always taking my wedding ring off whenever I swim or run because it is a little lose. I have had it sized before, but never gotten the right sizing I guess. And I actually lost a wedding ring once (11 days after we got married!) So, like I said, I am always taking off my ring, but I still wanted something on that symbolizes our wedding day. So I went to the tattoo shop and we talked about my options. I was limited in the detail of the tattoo I could get because of the space on the finger, plus I did not want it to be a huge tatt, because I will still wear my wedding ring. So we messed around with fonts and my wife's name before we came to the conclusion that our wedding date would be cool. I like it alot and so does my bride! I know a ring does not make you married, but I like having that symbol on my finger, and now I will have it everyday, no matter what!

Health Update:
On Saturday, the weather was too beautiful to keep me indoors, so I went out for a short 3.8 mile run int he sun and it was great. It was a combination of run/walk, but after not being able to train for over two weeks, it was the best feeling to be outside running again, add in the fact that my wife ran with me some, and it was a perfect afternoon!

Yeah, I got ink done....

I got my one and only tattoo a few years ago. It was something I had wanted to do for awhile, but never did until I heard someone speak about procrastination, and that is what finally made me decide to go ahead and get it done. Now this speaker was our Sunday School teacher and I am positive that he never intended to send out the message I took from it, but that's how my tattoo happened.

I like my tattoo. It s something very simple, just my initials. I really doubt that I go for another tattoo, unless I finish an Ironman, then I will get that tattoo. I do not think a lot of tattoos look good on a person, but a tattoo placed in the right sport, of the right can look cool. The other day I ran across this site which had the most idiotic tattoos on it that I wanted to post. So enjoy...

Brilliant tattoo guy, hope you do not plan on doing any flying anytime soon!

What do you want to bet that this guy was drunk when this happened? I sure hope he was drunk!

This one is clever, doll's knees! Can't see where it is practical, but it is better than a cat's buthole!

Handlebars? Hmmmm Whatever could this be a symbol for? Any ideas???

Again, this one is clever, shows that she can laugh at her seriously screwed up toes!

Yeah right, Dude, I feel sorry for the tattoo artist!

And just so you know, none of those tattoos are mine!
