Track and Failure...

The 2008 Olympics started out in such a great way. Watching the swimming was awesome and I think we (Team USA) dominated in the pool. Next came the gymnastics. Now I do not think a sport can be decided by a judgement call, so therefore I do not like the Olympics. Yes, they are great athletes that have a gift, I just think the scoring of it is flawed, same with diving.

And do not get me started on ping pong, badminton and rhythmic gymnastics. I mean please, these are not Olympic caliber events. Neither is Equestrian, trampoline, or even BMX, although it was very cool to watch! One event I wish I had seen live was the OWS 10k. OWS stands for Open Water Swim. these athletes swam 6.2 miles in a river for medals. That takes a lot of endurance and ability, and I was impressed.

But I always looked forward to the Track and Field portion of the Olympics, mostly because that is where we kick butt. We normally kicked butt I should say. It seems like someone forgot to tell the world that the USA usually wins a lot of the Track and field events we enter. I also think Team USA thought we were guarantees to medal.

Now Usain Bolt was crazy, wicked fast, so we might not have beat him, but there were a lot of events we (Team USA) should have won. The relays... are hard to win when you do not have a team entered because they dropped the baton! It just seemed to me that every American front runner did not do as well as expected.

The Track and Field team reminded me the the "Dream Team 2" of 4 years ago. They seemed to thought that the games were something that hey had to play but that they should go ahead and be given the medal. well the world did not agree and embarrassed them. Maybe in the next Olympics, the Track and Field team will comeback more focused and take our place on top of the podium.

WOW!, WOWEE WOW WOW!"

Hello again! Well I have been watching a lot of the Olympics lately, especially the swimming. As you know, I have been doing triathlons this summer, so I was really interested in watching Phelps and Team USA. All I can say about them is "WOW, WOWEE WOW WOW"!

Thise guys were swimming 50 meters so fast. I know that I swim 100 yards in about 1:40. And that is great for me, since back in Sept of 07 when I started swimming I was doing 100 yards in 6:27! A 50 in the Olympics went down in 21 seconds! No breathing on the race either.

Every swimmer did flip turns in the pool, and it was awesome to watch, but if you have never tried these flip turns, believe me it is not that easy. The dolphin kick is something that blows my mind. I love to watch it and see the speed they get, and I really do not see how it would help me in a triathlon, but I love to try when swimming laps.

The pool that I swim in was closed all last week for maintenance. This was the worst possible week to not have access to the pool. I so wanted to get out and swim! I am looking forward to getting back into the pool on Monday, and also for the Olympics to quit being on so late every night.

Dude looks like a lady????

While cruising the net the other day, I ran across a story that amazed me and also freaked me out all at the same time. We all have heard about drugs in sports these days ranging from blood doping to steroids to growth hormones. We all know that there are tests for these banned substances, and we all know that they check for these substances at the Olympics. The Beijing Olympics will have a test this year that I have never heard of before, one that is very scary and I would not want to be the guy that administers this test.

This year the officials at the Beijing Olympics will also be "examining competitors whose sex is in doubt". Let me put it this way, they are checking chicks to make sure they ain't dudes!

"Suspected athletes will be evaluated from their external appearances by experts and undergo blood tests to examine their sex hormones, genes and chromosomes for sex determination,", who wants that job? Excuse ma'am, you have been selected to be tested to make sure you are really a woman!

Here is another interesting fact: Transsexuals who have had a sex change from male to female can compete in women's events, as long as they wait two years after the operation. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww!

This would have explained the East German women's team from years ago!
