Weekend Recap

This Easter weekend, the family and I headed back to Arkansas to see family, so there was not a lot of training going on. The trip itself was a memorable on, but for the wrong reasons. Here is the recap:

Thursday: Baby comes down with a cold/virus/start of an ear infection. Luckily, my bride was able to get him into the doctor that day and get him started on some antibiotics. 15 months old and it was the first time he was on antibiotics is pretty good if you ask me. Needless to say, he had a rough night sleeping that night.

Friday: Pack up the car, we are driving. Jesse did fine for about an hour into the drive, then he got extremely unhappy. Screaming crying unhappy! There is not much you can do while driving either until you can find a spot to pull over, so it was a rough drive, then when we got to Nana's house, he had another rough night sleeping, so we had a rough night sleeping. I was planning on running that morning before we headed on to the wife's family, but after that night, it wasn't going to happen.

Saturday: The meds are kicking in. We had a fairly quiet ride to my wife's parents house, but I was so sore from a rough nights sleep and driving that I was pretty much cranky. I was able to get away and get in a 5 mile run on Sat. It was a beautiful day, temps were around 80! Later that night, we had dinner with a friend and then back to the in-laws house to hopefully watch the Final Four. No Final Four for us. We could not get the TV to cooperate, so we went to bed at 9:30. The bed at my wife's parents place is way to small for me, so I ended up on the couch. Not a good night's sleep either.

Sunday: Great day at church, great meal with family. We got to meet a new cousin that was 3 months old, and got to see my sister for awhile before we made the long trip back to Memphis (5 hour drive). We planned it so that the kids would sleep, so we left late. We got back into Memphis sometime after 11PM. The entire family crashed out on me for the last 2.5 hours of the drive. Fun times.

Stay tuned for my news, I will try and post it later today:

  1. It sounds like you had a rough holiday. I am glad that the little guy is doing better:) I am the worst for driving anything over four hours...it makes me cranky too!! My entire family also crashed after the Easter celebration and we didn't have to drive as far as you!! Hang in there and get some rest:)
