I Hate The Week of a Race

On Saturday, May 1, my triathlon season officially begins. It is a short sprint race that is being sponsored by a friend of mine. It is a 500 yd swim, 10.5 mile bike and 3 mile run, so I am looking to go all out and I want to see what I can do. According to the race website, I shouldn't let the distances fool me, because it says there are some good climbs on the bike and a good climb at mile 1.5 on the run. So it sounds like a really fun race and my only expectation is to go out and go hard!

I really do hate the week before a race. That is when I seem to get the blahs or the "funk". Not sure why either. I am excited to race. I am looking forward to racing and those are the only two expectations I have. It seems hard for me to do anything training wise during that week, which might be good, might be bad, who knows?

*** I also setup a Daily Trainings page on FaceBook. I would love for everyone that reads to go in and place a race photo in the albums.

*** Also my mom's bday is Friday, so everyone wish my mom a happy birthday!

  1. i know what you mean about race week...the taper sucks! you second guess yourself about what to eat, drink, how much to run/bike/swim, etc....the race sounds like fun though. not your typical fast and flat sprint. good luck! and tell your mom happy b-day for me! oh yeah, can you actually post the link to your FB page and i'll post a pic on it. thanks!
