It is here finally, and I am looking forward to it. I am talking about the 2009 Triathlon Season. I am pretty much doing the same race schedule I did last year with an extra Sprint thrown in. My first race is Feb 27, 2009. A mini indoor triathlon at the gym I work out at. 500 yd swim, 8 mile bike and 2 mile run.
I did this race last year and got 2nd place. A year of swimming, biking and running and I think I can crush last years times. Last year I swam the 500 yds in 10:10. In my training sessions I am doing it around 9:30 and that is not even pushing it, so I am looking at doing it sub 9 minutes.
The 8 mile bike took me 30:46 last year, but with over 1000 miles of biking under my belt now I am looking to crush that also, shooting for 25 minutes. The run I should be able to see gains as well. Last year I did the 2 mile treadmill run in 16:42, this year I am shooting for 15 minutes or better.
This race will be a good kickoff to the season, and judging how I feel after going all out, I will be able to have a better expectation for this season, although I feel like I am going to blow my times away.
