November Goals

I have never been one to set goals, and I know that sounds bad. I guess I'd have to say the reason I do not set goals is because of what the word goal stands for. Many times the word goal means to achieve, but it also can mean failure. Goals can change for a variety of reason and that in no way means that you may have failed to achieve that goal, but it could mean that the situation changed and that goal is no longer a good idea.

Now I said all that to say this. My BT training group decided that we should set a training goal for November. We decided that we were each going to try and complete the Ironman distances this month. Swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles. Most of us use the months of Nov and Dec to rest and recover from the racing season, but I had such a good end to my season, that I really do not want to take any steps back, so I committed to achieving this goal.

I am proud to say that as of November 16, 2008, I have only 6 miles of running left to complete the goal. I know that towards the end of the month it will be tough to find time to run, swim and bike.

Some goals are easier to achieve I think when you have someone to hold you accountable. Now that I have mine almost completed, I can really give everyone else the bizness if they do not follow through!
